The honest picture. Cybersecurity is growing fast — BLS projects information security analyst employment to grow about 29% from 2024 to 2034, with a median wage around $124,910 (May 2024). But the demand is concentrated in experienced and specialized roles. In ISC2's 2025 workforce study, nearly a third of organizations reported having no entry-level security staff at all.
The "shortage" is real, but it isn't an open door for beginners.
